In 1983, Ernest Schneider, who took over Breitling in 1979, created a chronograph that was officially adopted by the Frecce Tricolori, the acrobatic team of the Italian Air Force, and triggered a revival of Breitling's reputation.
That "chronograph of all time" is the origin of the modern-day Chronomat, which continues to evolve as Breitling's flagship watch.
