With its black tachymeter bezel, Ref. 79160 is the most popular Chronotime variant of its generation.
This piece features specifications from the mid-1990s, with a Rolex crown, Tudor-inscribed bracelet, heavy kamaboko case, and late silver dial.
The bracelet is Ref. 78360, the end links are 589, and the clasp code is S (manufactured around 1994).
It is in very good condition with minor scratches throughout, but the light ageing gives it a nice atmosphere.
Overhauled at our workshop in September 2025.
The Chronotime is the third generation of chronographs by Tudor. As watch fans around the world call it the "big block," the voluminous, edgy, and rugged middle case has been nicknamed the "kamaboko case" in Japan because its profile looks like the cross section of a kamaboko (a Japanese mantis-shaped fish paste). In addition to the simple and intrepid design inherited from the Daytona when it was still equipped with a manual-winding movement, the popularity of the Chronotime equipped with the highly reliable Cal. 7750 in a sturdy Oyster case inherited from Rolex has not diminished, and its circulation has been decreasing more and more in recent years.
