This watch belongs to the first half of Ref. 214270.
The 3, 6, and 9 indexes on the dial are all made of white gold and have no luminous paint, so they are buried and become difficult to see when the surrounding black color moves in, hence the common name "blackout".
In 2010, this model broke out of its traditional 36mm diameter shell and changed to a 39mm diameter.
Although some fans lamented this as a sign of the times, the enlarged dial due to the larger diameter led to further improvements in legibility, and the bracelet made entirely of solid wood and the Cal. 3132 with its original balance spring and quake-resistant mechanism made it the best Explorer of all time.
In 2016, the 3, 6, and 9 indexes on the dial were also luminescent with chromalite luminescence, and the long hand was extended to reach the seconds track on the outer circumference of the dial, and production continued until 2020.
